Antwerp, Belgium is located in Belgium, has a population of approximately 458,000 people, and is the largest city in Flander, in the Northern region. Antwerp is known for its harbor and is the world's diamond center. Major attractions include historic buildings, museums, shopping streets, beer, and a zoo. Antwerp is one of the primary centers of the global diamond industry (next to New York City and South Africa). Belgium also has the largest Hassidic Jewish population outside of New York. Cargo shipping and oil refineries are also prevalent in this seaport area. Within the last decade, Antwerp has also been "...internationally recognized as an important city for fashion design--several graduates of the Belgium Royal Academy of Fine Arts have become successful designers." Antwerp has one of the oldest zoos in the world. Druon Antigoon was a mythical giant who was killed by a Roman soldier, and is said to have been the namesake for Antwerp. Antwerp hosted the 1920 Summer Olympics and was the first city to host the World Gymnastics Championships in 1903. Antwerp is the home to a famous annual book fair, and won the title of World Book Capital for 2004.
