Terrace, British Columbia, Canada has a population of approximately 12,000 people. Located on the eastern edge of the Coast Mountains, it is a commercial and cultural center serving the 40,000 inhabitants of the lower Skeena River. The city of Terrace was created in a forest, and is the hub of several other British Columbia activities and attractions. There are several outdoor activities including hiking and fishing--and watching for the white Kermodei bear, also known as Great Spirit Bear. This bear is a white cousin of the black bear, but it is reclusive. Not many have seen it, but if you do, you're lucky. Major attractions include Heritage Park, the Police Station (built in 1912), the Kalum School (built in 1914), and World War II Army buildings.
