Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada has a population of approximately 9,000 people and is a major fishing and ferry port. It is on the Gulf of Maine, in Nova Scotia, and is sometimes called, The Gateway to Nova Scotia. Major attractions include lighthouses, Fundy Tides, historic churches, museums and galleries, the smallest working drawbridge, beaches, foliage, and more. Tourism is a major industry since the railroads began to offer connections before World War II. Since 1998, there has been a ferry, known as The Cat, which is a high-speed catamaran ferry leaving from Portland and Bar Harbor, Maine.
