Zadar, Croatia is city on the Adriatic Sea, with a population of approximately 82,000 people. The majority of citizens are Croats with over 90 percent as of 2001. Zadar is the center of Zadar county. Among the most important attractions are the Roman Forum, the Aqueduct, several churches, Citadel, the Land Gate, and the sea organ. Zadar was a center of development of Croatian language and culture. Zadar hosts several museums, permanent art exhibits, the Croatian Singing Musical Society Zoranic (est. in 1885), and International Choir Competition, and more. Distilleries in Zadar have produced Maraschino since the 16th century. Close by is a well-known source of marasca cherries. In 1998, Zadar hosted the Central European Olympiad in Informatics.
