Cardiff, South Wales is the capital and largest city and has a population of approximately 305,000 people. Cardiff's port, Tiger Bay, was once the busiest port in the world. S.A. Brain, a brewery, has been in Cardiff since 1882. Cardiff is a sports and cultural center, hosting the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games. It is also home to Millennium Stadium, known as a sport venue worldwide. Cardiff is home to Cardiff Castle, the National Assembly for Wales, the National Museum and Gallery, and Cathays Park. The Welsh National Opera moved into the Millennium Center in 2004. Former castle grounds extend from a mall to a park, adding to the many other parks in the area. It is possible to cycle from Cardiff almost completely off road, with a cycle route that follows the river and old railways of the valleys. Cardiff has been mentioned often in the BBC TV show Dr. Who, where it is often filmed. The Cardiff Philatelic Society, formed in 1899, is the oldest Philatelic Society in Wales.
