Glasgow, Scotland is the largest city and has a population of approximately 630,000 people. Glasgow is known as the Commercial Capital of Scotland, and is a busy city. Glasgow is the second most popular foreign tourist destination, after Edinburgh. Glasgow is also the largest and most economically import commerce and retail center. Glasgow is one of Europe's top 20 financial centers, and is home to many businesses that are important to the British economy. St. Mungo is the Patron Saint of Glasgow. The motto of the city is Let Glasgow Flourish and was commemorated in a song called Mother Glasgow. The three sections of the city are created around the Glasgow Cathedral, High Street, and River Clyde. There are several art galleries, museums, shops, parks, and buildings to see while in Glasgow. The center of the city includes the Theater Royal, where the Scottish Opera and Ballet perform; The Pavilion, and several other theaters sites. Glasgow in home to Strathclyde University and Glasgow Caledonian University. The area around the Arts Quarter is the home of the annual Merchant City Festival. Also in the Merchant City is the significant amount of gay residents; Glasgay! Festival is held every year in November.
