Swindon, England is a large town in the county of Wiltshire. It is growing rapidly and new housing keeps being built. It is one of the fastest growing towns in Europe and has, for its size, a low unemployment rate. Swindon's motto translates to Health and Industry. During the 20th century, the railroad was the largest employer in town. In the 1970s, a large part of that work was stopped. Employees simply left for new jobs in any of the new industries that came to town. Major employers include: Honda, Intel, BMW, and Motorola. Insurance companies like Nationwide and Zurich Financial can also be found in Swindon. McArthur Glen Designer Outlet has been built using a former railroad engine works, and is adjacent to the Steam Museum. In addition, there are leisure centers, a sports arena, a golf complex, parks, castles, the largest Chinese restaurant in Britain, several museums, and an art gallery. Two James Bond movies have used Swindon for scenes, and author Ian Fleming (creator of James Bond), is buried at Sevenhampton. An interesting bit of trivia regarding Swindon is that more people have joined the Hare Krishna movement in Swindon than in any other English town.
