Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany and, with Hamburg Harbor, its principal port, Hamburg is also the second largest port city in the European Union, with a population of approximately 82,400,000 people. Hamburg is an international trade city and the commercial and cultural center of Northern Germany. The canals in Hamburg are crossed by over 2,300 bridges. There are almost a dozen museums, including the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial. Hamburg is more appealing in the warmer weather of spring and summer. Attractions include a tour of City Hall, the Grand Church, St. Michaelis, the Old Warehouse District, and the harbor promenade. Hamburg is Europe's second largest red light district. Most tourists visit Hamburg for a reason; whether it be for theater, sports, a festival, or genealogy/heritage journeys for families of Holocaust victims and survivors. There are six film festivals (including a GLBT event) through the year; at least four International festivals, and 10 musical events, including the Gay Pride Parade and Festival in June.
