Stuttgart is a city located in southern Germany, and is the capital of the state of Baden-Württemberg, with a population of approximately 590,000 people. Stuttgart is the sixth largest city in Germany. Attractions and sights include Bad Cannstatt, which houses Western Europe's largest mineral spas, a zoo, and beer festivals; musical theater, a high-security court and jail, DaimlerChrysler Headquarters and an original Mercedes-Benz plant. Stuttgart is also home to the Dinkelacker Brewing Co. Stuttgart is known for its cultural life, in particular an opera house and three smaller theaters, where opera, ballet, theatre and concerts are produced. Stuttgart's city center was heavily destroyed during World War II. During the reconstruction of the city in the style of the 1950s and 1960s, many historic buildings were demolished. Many historic buildings have been reconstructed, and the city boasts of some fine pieces of modern post-war architecture. There are dozens of churches, castles, palaces, art galleries, museums, music halls, and the first concrete TV tower. The Christmas Market of Stuttgart is the largest and one of the oldest and most beautiful in Europe, especially renowned for the abundant decorations. The famous Wilhelmais Germany's only combined zoological and botanical garden.
