Napoli is the largest city in southern Italy and the capital of the Compania Region and the Province of Napoli. The population is approximately 1,000,000 people. It is located halfway between the Vesuvius volcanic area, and the Campi Flegrei, which is part of the Campanian Volcanic arc. Napoli has history, art, culture, and ethnic offerings for tourists. Napoli is the traditional home of pizza. It is the birthplace of the Pizza Margherita which is traditionally made with mozzarella cheese, tomato, and basil, each representing the red, white and green on the Italian flag. The pizza was named after it was served to Queen Margherita when she visited the city. Napoli is also famous for other pasta dishes. For dessert, Sfogliatella and Gelato are favorites.
