Alesund is a city and municipality in the country of More og Romsdal, Norway with a population of approximately 6,500 people. It is a seaport noted for its unique concentration of Art Nouveau architecture. Alesund occupies seven of the outer islands of the west coast, which enclose the town. Alesund has a maritime climate with mild windy winters; the coldest month of the year is January. Alesund is surrounded by beautiful natural scenery, including mountains and fjords which are of great interest to tourists. The annual Norwegian Food Festival is held in Alesund each year.
