Sundsvall is a city in lower Norrland, central Sweden, in the Province of Medelpad and Västernorrland County. Sunsvall has a population of approximately 55,300 people and is the seat of Sundsvall Municipality. Sundsvall is supported by pulp and paper industry, aluminum production; it also has banks, insurance companies, telecommunications administration; and large public data processing centers such as the National Social Insurance Board. The main campus of the newly established Mid Sweden University is also located in the city. Much of the city is built in stone, and many buildings are listed for preservation. The town center was built at the end of the 1800s. The Stone City is an impressive attraction to tourists and residents.
