Bern is the administrative capital of and the 4th most populated city in Switzerland, with a population of approximately 127,000 people; it also functions as the capital of the Canton (district). The largely Medieval city of Bern has earned the distinction as a UNESCO Cultural World Heritage Site. Famous attractions include the Zytglogge (clock tower), the 15th century Gothic Cathedral and Town Hall. Bern has had a bear pit since the 16th century; the bears and tourists enjoy the habitat. The Federal Building dates back to 1902 and houses the Parliament and part of the Federal Administration. The Garden of Roses provides a beautiful view of the Medieval city. The most recent attraction in Bern is a set of fountains created in 2004. There are also five theaters, dozens of cinemas, a music halls, a symphony orchestras, jazz festivals, an International Students Club, 11 museums, six yearly festivals, and an annual fair.
