Antalya is the capital city of the Antalya Province on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey, with a population of approximately 605,000 people. The tourist population raises the figure to over 2,000,000 during the summer. Antalya sits on a large cliff, surrounded by mountains, forests, the Mediterranean Sea and ancient ruins; with one notable archaeological museum. Antalya has been called a gateway for Turkey's coastal resorts. Antalya celebrates over 10 festivals during the year, including a Golden Orange Film Festival and a Mediterranean International Music Festival. Many beaches have clubs and bars. Kaleici is the historical center of the city. Kaleici has been restored and has become an attractive tourist center while retaining all the original ancient Turkish archaeological characteristics. The port's marina has been completely restored; the restoration activities in Kaleici won the Golden Apple Prize; a prestigious distinction similar to a 4-star rating. There are several mosques, museums, galleries, and ruins.
