Turkey is a Eurasian country located in the Anatolian Peninsula of Asia, with a small portion in the Balkan region of Europe, with a population of approximately 70,000,000. Turkey borders Bulgaria, Greece, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraq, and Syria. Turkey is a member of the UN, NATO, and several other international organizations. Because of its locations between Europe and Asia, Turkey has been a historical crossroads and economic center. Tourism is fast emerging as a dynamic economic entity in Turkey. According to industry sources, 31 hotels out of 100 best hotels of the world are located in Turkey. In 2005, over 21,000,000 tourists vacationed in Turkey. Turkey's culture comes from different religions and traditions of the world. There are art galleries, museums, literature, cuisine, and religious monuments and sites, as well as places of worship. The Jewish community in Turkey is the world's largest, next to Israel.
