The United States of America is in North American and has a population of approximately 296,000,000 people. Included within the United States are 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa. The flag of the United States has 13 red and white strips (red on top and bottom) and 50 white stars on a background of blue. Major attractions include the nation's capital in Washington, D.C. The government is a Federal Republic of individual states, based on the United States Constitution. Laws are provided in the Acts of Congress. Federal goverment is divided into the Executive Branch, the Legislative Branch, and the Judicial branch. Each state has laws enacted at city, state, and Federal levels.
